The Birth of Our Island Shoppe

Kappy's Island Shoppe owners, Steve and Jill Kaplan first visited Boca Grande in the spring of 2012 and instantly fell in love with the island lifestyle. Drawn to the laid-back charm and natural beauty, they found themselves returning the following year for a long Presidents’ Day weekend. While relaxing by the pool, Jill happened to discover that the convenience store on the north end of the island was for sale. With Steve having just wrapped up a successful 25-year business in Chicago, the timing felt perfect—their next adventure was calling!

Eager to embrace island life, our owners transformed the former Gill’s Groceries into what is now Kappy’s Island Shoppe—your go-to spot for all things Boca Grande! Whether you need groceries, grab-and-go meals, ice cream, souvenirs, T-shirts, over-the-counter medications, or even a golf cart rental, Kappy’s has it all.
